I’ve spent much of my working life listening for what sits underneath the work.

For over two decades, I’ve worked alongside leaders and mission-driven organizations, much of that time in Catholic health care, helping people connect purpose, values, and everyday practice. Again and again, that work brings me back to the same place: the stories people carry, the language they use to make meaning, and the things they hope not to lose.

I’m usually the person still thinking about the sentence someone said in passing. The detail that seemed small. The story underneath the story.

That same attention is at the heart of my writing.

I write with people and organizations to bring those things to the page through personal stories, reflections, leadership and formation work, and writing shaped by a person’s life, voice, or purpose.

My leadership work also includes Lead Like a Sister, a project exploring what women religious can teach us about steadiness, presence, service, and the long work of leadership.

Oceans of Love is the quieter side of that work. It’s where some of the things that might otherwise slip past find a place too: a remembered phrase, a family tradition, a piece of writing I can’t quite forget, something ordinary that turns out not to be ordinary at all.

I suppose that’s the thread through most of what I do.

Pay attention. Stay curious. Try not to miss what matters.
